Goodbye to Coach Gerhardt

Coach. Teacher. Friend. Mentor. There are a lot of things that the Bancroft community has called Coach Jane Gerhardt over the years. Through her thoughtful ways she has guided, taught, encouraged, motivated, inspired and been a part of our lives for a long time, and she will always be a strong part of our community.

Coach Gerhardt’s passion and enthusiasm was contagious, spreading a love for sports throughout the community. She was always patient and dedicated to teaching us the sport, no matter how many times we asked to clarify the rules or just the general play of the game. She has always had a passion for teaching and making all students excited about our gym classes, in a way that both taught us about the games and allowed us to have fun. Not only was she a dedicated teacher, but she put her heart into the Bulldogs. She was always out with the softball and field hockey teams, pushing them to be the best players and teammates they could be. Rain or shine, she was wholeheartedly there for her teams.

Unleashed heard from various students in Coach Gerhardt’s classes. Alex Stefani said “She made every class more energetic and feel like a more familial and tight knit group. Another student, Caroline Belanger said “She’s was one of the coolest teachers I’ve had. Her enthusiasm for PE made it more fun for all of us. I know Bancroft will miss having her.” She is loved throughout the community, and her warm presence will be missed.
