Poem – “What is a Shadow”

Poem+-+What+is+a+Shadow

Even when I’m in the light I‘m still in the dark,

They deny my presence,

And consider me a shadow,

They see me and walk over me.

If white is day and black is night,

Why can’t I be seen at night,

All of these promises,

but still reasons to fight,

Walk into a store,

All eyes on me,

They assume that I don’t have money,

But still stereotypes are placed on me,

Oppression was said to be gone,

But it’s as real as the tint on my skin,

They try to say that we all can’t swim,

But we all can’t win
