Bones or No Bones

What does a 13-year old pug have to do with how people’s days go? TikTok’s newest trend revolves around a pug named Noodle, who, at 13, often has very little energy. Noodle’s owner, Jonathan Graziano (@jongraz on TikTok), adopted the pug about 5 years ago from a shelter. Like many of us, Noodle would very happily sleep forever. For fun, Graziano began to play a game on his TikTok account where he lifts up the pug and lets go. Either Noodle collapses out of lack of motivation or he musters up enough energy to stand. This game began to gain traction on TikTok, being called “No Bones”. If Noodle is in the mood to stand up, the day is a “bones day.” However, if Noodle isn’t feeling it, the day becomes a “no bones day.”

Similar to a horoscope, people have been attributing their moods to what Noodle decides. For example, if your day is going terrible, chances are it is a no bones day. But if you are having a great day and the universe seems to be on your side, it’s probably a bones day. A no bones day is relatively similar to Mercury in Retrograde, in that you might have a pit of existential dread in your stomach for no reason. In order to combat no bones days, Graziano recommends spending some time on self care. This could look like wearing sweatpants all day, having an extra cup of coffee in the morning, or taking some time to do a face mask or take a long bath. However, on bones days, it is your time to treat yourself. Its a bones day, why not enjoy it while you can! Take the risk and put yourself out there because Noodle is on your side!

Through the bones game, Graziano has been raising awareness for pet shelter adoption. 6.3 million pets are entered into the shelter system every year, and by raising awareness, Graziano is causing more pets to be adopted from shelters. Even if they aren’t perfect, they are worth a chance, and Noodle is a wonderful example of that.
