Review of Bocado Tapas Bar

Appetizers are the best part about restaurants because it’s like eating a bunch of different tiny meals without getting really full. So, when I heard that there was a restaurant that basically just served appetizers, I knew I had to check it out.

Bocado Tapas Bar in Worcester is a Spanish-themed restaurant decorated with lots of red and black decor and paintings of flamenco dancers and bull fighters. The restaurant itself is mostly brick with a lot of exposed pipes on the ceiling, making it look like an old warehouse–in a cool and trendy way, definitely not a dirty and gross way.

The menu is full of appetizer-sized dishes that are perfect for sharing, like their famous “queso de cabra con miel” or fried goat cheese with honey. The menu is set up so that you can start off with any meat or cheese dish with some bread; we had the goat cheese along with Spanish cured ham and baguette, which were all very delicious. Next, the menu moves on to salads and veggie platters; we had marinated veggies that included carrots, artichoke hearts, and cauliflower. To be completely honest, they were pretty good aside from the fact that they were totally drenched in an oily marinade that was just a little too much. Lastly, Bocado offers “entrée” options like sliders and bacon-wrapped scallops. We ordered the shrimp burger sliders, which has probably made it into my list of top ten favorite foods.

The service was perfectly timed so that we were able to finish each plate just in time for the next one to arrive; actually, I’m pretty sure they could read our minds. Though we did not save room for dessert, we could see/smell the churros from the next table over, which I’m sure were awesome, seeing that lots of other tables throughout the restaurant had that same dessert on their tables.

I 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone who shares my love for appetizers, as well as people who only moderately like appetizers because the food is just too good! I suggest going with a bunch of other people because the more people you invite, the more food you can try, which is always nice.
