Cookies

Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter

1 cup sugar

1 egg, beaten

1 tablespoon milk

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375° F.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. In another bowl, use an electric mixer to beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and milk, beating to combine.
  4. With the electric mixer on low speed, add flour bit by bit. Beat until well combined.
  5. Wrap the dough in wax paper and refrigerate for 2 hours. (Set a timer!)
  6. Coat a flat surface, such as a cutting board, with flour or powdered sugar. This is where you will roll out the dough. Using a rolling pin, roll dough to desired thickness. Use cookie cutters to make shapes from dough.
  7. Place cookies 1 inch apart on a greased baking sheet. Allow to cook for 7-9 minutes or until bottoms are golden brown.

Frosting

Ingredients

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

3 tablespoons butter

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1 tablespoon milk

food coloring

Directions

  1. Beat powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, and milk with an electric mixer until it seems creamy. If it is too thick, slowly add milk.
  2. If desired, add 3 drops of food coloring.
  3. Frost your cookies!
